Maintaining healthy muscles is essential for a healthy life, but genetic and non-genetic disease make muscles lose their function during life. GYM aims to develop and commercially produce an innovative stem cell therapy for the treatment of patients with reduced muscle mass, muscle strength and muscle energy.
It is the mission of GYM to combat the major health care problem of losing muscle mass and power by developing and commercially producing an affordable stem cell therapy for muscle repair and regeneration in affected individuals. The challenges the GYM project addresses, impact both the vulnerable population and the socio-economic status of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine, and will make the Euregio Meuse-Rhine a leader in stem cell therapy for muscle disease.
GYM focuses on developing a generic treatment based on autologous muscle stem cells to repair and regenerate affected muscles in patients with muscle disease and muscle breakdown. GYM anchors the production of these muscle stem cells in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine by establishing a high-quality technology company. Our road map contains 3 important milestones.
